I love this painting because I believe it captures the personalities of the two subjects perfectly. Sadie is a soft spoken demure young lady while Kieran is a "boy's boy". Sadie was a wonderful model, giving me an endless number wonderful poses. Kieran on the other hand was a whirling dervish. There was to be no posing by this tree climbing bundle of energy. I had to shoot the photos of him on the fly as he almost dared me to try to catch him standing still. Perseverence paid off and I finally got one great shot of him. You can feel the energy in his body language. You can sense that he is only going to be still for an instant and then he will be swinging away on those branches. He also has a mischievous glint in his eye as he plans his next move.

The painting of the portrait presented an added challenge as I had to deal with the dramatic value changes due to the bright sunlight, without letting the shadows become too harsh.
