This commission was a joy to paint, involving two beautiful sisters, their favorite book and a teddy bear.After numerous photos, we settled on this pose of the two girls reading the book. We then shot close ups of each girl until they & their father were all happy with the expressions on their faces. The final painting was completed in watercolour using several photos as reference. The background rose bushes were painted very styilistically using negative painting. This painting marks a turning point for me as it heralds the beginning of my fascination with negative shapes.
